JC Rook & Sons

The Rook family has had a connection with the meat trade since the eighteenth century, originating in and around Norfolk. Joseph Christmas Rook, a butcher since leaving school(except during the war when he joined the RAF)opened the 1st JC Rook and Sons in Dover, with two of his sons, Michael and Roger, in 1965. In a tiny room above the shop, they made all their own pies, pasties and sausages. Within 14 months they had become so successful, opening another 3 shops in Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Deal that two other brothers, John and Peter.
